Who's Job Is It To Care For This Man In Need?

We all noticed that during the Katrina aftermath, that churches and private organizations did what the government and all it's money could not, they helped people in need. In the town where we delivered 12 tons of supplies, only churches were feeding the 50,000 people there a week and a half after the Strom hit. The government is always slow and inefficient. The private sector always gets the best bang for the buck.

Any government response and program will be red tape upon red tape. It will have the efficiency of the DMV, work ethic of the state highway department, and the fairness of the IRS. Government never does as well what private industry does in competition. Fore example, the U.S. Post Office was sold to private industry so it could complete with UPS and FedEX.

That is why God does not put caring for the needy in the hands of people who don't care. Biblically, feeding the poor is not a government job. As we read the New Testament and understand that much is said about caring for those who cannot care for themselves, we also realize that the responsibility is placed on those who are local, responsible and care.

Study it for yourselves Christians. First of all we should all work hard to pay our own way in life. (2 Thessalonians 3:10-12) The needy are first to be cared for by their immediate families. (Read Mark 7:7-13) Next we see, that when their immediate family cannot care for them, only then should the local church should care for them. ( 1 Timothy 5:3-16)

The burden of benevolence is never placed on the back of government because it was not designed to do that. God has given three divine institutions. The family, the government and the church. They each have distinctive roles. They should give each the freedom to play their part without metling in each others business.

Governments true role is in protecting the rights of life, liberty and property of the citizens by punishing the evil doer. (See Romans 13:1-8 & proverbs 31:8-9 for Governments role) Unfortunately today, our government is neglecting the role of protecting the lives of innocent babies in the womb. It is not protecting the property of it's citizens. It is not defending their rights to public prayer and religious expression. It has abandoned it's true Biblical calling of giving justice by punishing the wicked. Now we have "correctional facilities" not ahangman's noose. We have no justice in our justice system. Liberties are slowly being eroded because a lack of security produced by a lack of justice through punishment of the wicked. (Proverbs 16:12, 25:5, 29:4, & 29:14)

Meanwhile, as the government abandons it's true role, it has invaded the home, taking over the role of educating our youth, rather than parents. It has taken over benevolence from the charity of the church through socialism and wealth redistribution programs such as welfare and social security. Rather than punish murderers with guns by executing them, their solution is to steal the rights of the honest citizen to have a gun for hunting, sporting, self and national defense. Rather than use the full force of power on anyone who would dare threaten us, we steal the rights and civil liberties of our citizens away in a futile struggle to create a "secure homeland." Governments solutions to needs that are really family and church responsibilities are always ineffective and often disastrous.

Government must punish the evil doer. But do we have the will to let government do it's God given job? Security comes with the utter defeat of those who would harm us. That was true for Germany and for Japan. And only when we totally defeat our enemies and rebuild them in our image will we have peace with them that will last until they are our allies selling us cheap cars and buying out our own auto manufacturers like Toyota and Daimler Chrysler.

Today the individual doesn't want to take care of himself. He wants the government to do it. The Families don't want to take care of their own. They want the government to do it. The churches don't want to feed the poor and help the needy. They want the government to do it. And the government was not meant to meet these needs. It can't even when it tries. Meanwhile, the government is not allowed to do what it should be doing, that is rewarding those who do good and punishing those who do evil. (1 Peter 2:13-14)

God help us!

1 John Chapter One

In his first epistle the Apostle John is writing to Christians. People who "walk in the light" and "have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus" are Christians not lost people.

1 John 1:7 "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin."

The Epsitle of 1 John is written to the purified. To these purified, the inspired Apostle writes in verse 8, "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us." It is possible to "decieve ourselves" into thinking we can be sinless. But a person who does not admit his sin cannot do two things. He cannot repent and thus he cannot be forgiven.

To think you will never stumble contradicts all experience, common sence, and more importantly the Word of God. James 3:2 says, "We all stumble in many ways." It makes you a liar and the truth is not in you. Anyone purified by the Blood and in fellowship with Jesus will be aware of their stumbling problem.

But one in fellowship with the Truth will also realize the way of escape and be a repentant person (1 John 3:6). 1 John 1:9 proclaims, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." Notice that the path to purity is forgiveness not living perfectly. If we would live perfectly, we wouldn't all sin and wouldn't need a savior. If we would chose not to ever sin, the Law would have been sufficant to save us but it wasn't. The Law of Moses was powerless to make us rigteous because we all obeyed our fleshly desires rather than God.(Romans 3:20 & Romans 8:3).

The law was something no one but Jesus would bear (Acts 15:10). Some say when we get the Holy Spirit, that allows us to do what we couldn't do before, live sinnlessly. But that would mean before we became Christians we HAD to sin because we were born incapable of doing right (That's Calvanism) not that we all CHOSE to sin because we are free will agents who decide to rebel because of temptation. Sin is something we choose to do (1 Peter 4:3). But the Bible teaches we didn't have to sin and there was a way not to sin (1: Corinthians 10:13). But no one chose to do that (Isaiah 53:6, Romans 3:11-12 & James 1:14-15). No one was without sin (Romans 3:23). The Bible teaches that we are without excuse (Romans 1:20) and accountable for our choices (Romans 3:19).

If that is true, then we all had the ability, even before we were Christians, to not sin but still chose by our own free will to violate our consciences and become sinners. We need some way to atone for sin when we are weak willed and stumble. There is a battle between the desires of our spirit and desires of our flesh (Galatians 5:17 & Romans 7:14-20). We need atonement for when our flesh wins out so that we can live by the Spirit (1 Peter 4:6). So we learn that if we confess our sins (as purified believers who are in fellowship with Christ) he will forgive us our sins and cleans us from ALL unrigteousness.

So don't fall for the lie that you can become sinless via your own will power. Only by forgiveness of grace and atonement of the blood by the sanctification of the Spirit with in you can you be purged of sinful guilt. We must view ourselves as sinners forgiven by grace (1 Timothy 1:15). It is knowledge of Grace that will teach us to say no to ungodliness not pridful delusions about our own unrealistic perfection. (Titus 2:11-13).

1 John 1:10 says, "If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives."

Hospital or Hospice -What is the Church here for?

Running a hospital must be a hard job. Imagine all the complaints hospital administrators receive from patients and employees. Take just one example, the temperature. Many people often complain about the temperature being too cold in Hospitals. Those tables in the X-ray room can sure be cold. Some places in the hospital the temperature is kept cool because some of the diagnostic equipment is sensitive temperature and must be kept cool.

Imagine you are a hospital administrator who learns this in a medical journal. You realize you have been keeping your temperature 5 degrees too high in your radiology department. It’s a proven fact in studies that hospitals with temperatures 5 degrees lower than your hospitals have fewer problems with the delicate equipment and can help more patients. So you send a memo out to the radiology department and explain the need to lower the temperature to maintain optimal performance of the equipment in order to heal more people and save more lives.

Now imagine that some, not all and not even most, but some of your nurses are now cold at work. They feel it’s chilly and want you to raise the temperature back. They start to really complain. You explain that some think it’s too hot and others think it’s too cold but you have to find the best balance you can to protect the equipment and help patient. You remind them that the mission of the hospital is to heal those who come in sick not keep the staff cozy. They then say you don’t care about the staff.

You explain to the nurses that the hospital’s priority is to help the sick and then if you can also make the employee as comfortable as possible you will. You explain that the needs of the patient out way the desires of the staff. You offer to buy them sweaters but the nurses won’t compromise. They say the fact that they have been there for dozens of years serving faithfully should mean the hospital would care about them enough to keep the building at the temperature they like. They insist you either raise the temperature back to their liking or they are going to leave the hospital and leave you short handed without enough nursing staff in the radiology department.

Imagine you are the hospital administrator…. what do you do? It’s hard because you have known these nurses for years and really care about them. Do you keep these four or five nurses by giving in to their demands or do you let them go in order to best utilize your equipment and help heal more patients? Do you please the healthy or save the sick? What would you do?

This is the same dilemma church leaders sadly face. Do you design church services to please the saved and lose the lost or do you meet the needs of the lost and lose a few members who are more interested in their personal comfort than the mission of the church? In Mark 2:17 Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

LONDON (Reuters) - Smokers who believe a few cigarettes a day don't do any harm will need to think again.

Norwegian scientists who studied the health records of 43,000 men and women have shown that even light smoking -- less than five cigarettes daily -- triples the risk of dying of heart disease or lung cancer.

"In both sexes, smoking 1-4 cigarettes per day was associated with a significantly higher risk of dying from ischaemic heart disease and from all causes, and from lung cancer in women," said Dr Aage Tverdal of the Norwegian Institute of Public Health in Oslo.

The study was published in the journal Tobacco Control. The researchers tracked the health and death records and smoking habits of the men and women, who had been screened for heart disease at the start of the study, from the 1970s to the 2002.

They found very little difference in the risk of dying from cancer, apart from lung cancer. Men who were light smokers were about three times more likely to die of lung cancer than non-smokers.

In women the risk rose to five times higher. The dangers of smoking are well documented. Previous research has shown that smokers die on average 10 years earlier than non-smokers but stopping, even in middle age, can halve the risk.

It is also a risk factor for heart disease and stroke and raises the odds of developing age-related macular degeneration which is the leading cause of blindness in the elderly.

Tverdal and his colleague Dr Kjell Bjartveit, of the National Health Screening Service in Oslo and a co-author of the study, said health officials must emphasize more strongly that light smokers are also endangering their health.

The poor will see and be glad— you who seek God, may your hearts live! The LORD hears the needy and does not despise his captive people. Let heaven and earth praise him, the seas and all that move in them, for God will save Zion and rebuild the cities of Judah. Then people will settle there and possess it; the children of his servants will inherit it, and those who love his name will dwell there.

A message from Crowley, LA

Those of you have been reading our blog daily are familiar with Forest Park Church of Christ in Crowley, LA (www.forestparkchurch.org) which has been instrumental in helping the displaced evacuees of Hurricane Katrina. Though untouched by Katrina themselves they feed hundreds of evacuees and given out supplies to untold numbers of victims. Above is a map of all the locations they have sent help to as they coordinated efforts in two states.

Now they themselves are in danger from Hurricane Rita. Please be in prayer for their safety. I am praying that Rita will downgrade and totally dissipate. Please join me in that prayer. Below is a letter from Michelle Corder the preacher’s wife. Take a few minutes and hold them up in prayer.

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to let everyone know that I will not be sending e-mails until after Hurricane Rita passes. I don't know how many of you are following the news but we are supposed to be on the west side of where it hits, which is the worst side, and they are predicting it to be a level 4 in our area. I'm not sure if we will be evacuating out of the town but we are for sure leaving our home as it is a trailer house and is also in a high risk flooding area.

Jason and I might go to the church and wait it out there. We might also be able to stay in the Bell South storm shelter if they have room for us. A couple of members in the church work there so they are checking into it for us. I might head north to stay with family but have not decided yet. Jason will more than likely stay here. Right now I'm going to pack up things that cannot be replaced and pack up clothes to take. At least I know how to kind of prepare for it after helping all theevacueesees from the last hurricane.

The only thing I'm truly worried about is my piano because we don't have insurance on any of our belongings and it would be hard to replace. I just keep telling myself it's only a material object and even if I can't get one as nice I'll someday have another piano.

To all of you who may be wondering what we're doing with the supplies we haven't dispersed yet, especially from the truck we received yesterday. We have everything stored in the fellowship hall and have closed until after the storm.

All of the volunteers wanted to get home and get things packed up. Some of them live in the areas that are being mandatory evacuated. As soon as this storm is over and I am able I will send an e-mail to let ya'll know how we all fared.

Everyone Needs To Repent Not Just New Orleans

Was This Person A Worse Sinner Than You?

There was the idea in Jesus day that if something bad happened to you it had to be a curse from God because of some sin that you or your parents committed (See John 9:2) They would look down their nose on anyone on whom a disaster fell, and believe that they were better than the person who had experienced the tragedy because nothing had happened to them.

There are two baseless assumptions people often make:

#1 That all bad things were punishment for sin. The book of Job proves that wrong. Sometimes hardships are allowed to demonstrate God's power and work in our lives (See John 9:3). Sometimes it is discipline to train us to be better people (see Hebrews 12:10). Sometimes it is punishment for sin from God.

#2 That other people are worse than us and deserve punishment and we don't. But the Bible teaches that we all have sinned (see Romans 3:23) and we all deserve death (see Romans 6:23). Therefore, we will all be judged for what we have done while in our bodies (see 2 Corinthians 5:10) and we all need to repent to be saved from our sins (see Acts 17:30).

Jesus addressed this ignorant attitude in Luke Chapter 13. There were people assuming that some others were worse sinners because some bad things had befallen them. Jesus warned them of their misunderstanding.

Luke 13:2-5 "Jesus answered, 'Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them— do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish."

There are people pointing out today how wicked and perverse New Orleans was and inferring that God destroyed them because they were worse than us. They believe Biloxi was flattened for it's Casinos but that they are safe. I think that attitude flies in the face of what Jesus taught in Luke 13. Yes, New Orleans may have been destoryed for her many sins. Many a city and nation in the Bible was destroyed for such sins as New Orleans commits. However, are we any better in the midwest?

My guess is that if Jesus were to preach to those today who are tempted to feel more righteous than those suffering from disasters he might say something like:

Do you think that these people in New Orleans were worse sinners than all the other American's because they suffered this way? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. Or those 3000 who died when the twin towers fell on them, do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in New York? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.

We all need to repent of our sins and prepare ourselves to stand before the judgment of God. We have sinned to and need to turn to Jesus to find salvation and forgiveness.

Hello from LA, Sept. 20, 2005


Your alarm clock rings out a piercing squeal as you open your eyes to another day; you roll over and pick yourself off the floor where you spent your night of rest. You walk to the window pull up the blinds and throw some morning light on your dwelling. Four freshly painted walls stare back at you, a few clothes and a sleeping bag your only possessions lie in a heap on the floor. Yet you are very thankful because you’re out of the shelter and somewhat on your own. This is the scenario in which we are currently working. The phase “I lost everything” is heard hundreds of times a day as pictures and stories bear witness to the real loss many people are experiencing. Their desperation reignites our desire to do as much as we can to help these displaced people. This disaster knows no cultural or economic barriers as the media might like for us to believe. A few days ago I visited with a lady who owns three homes in the New Orleans area and was forced to sign up for food stamps. Her local banks assets were frozen until such time as sufficient records were recovered from their flooded systems to satisfy the regulatory agencies. People who were working three good jobs in the area now have none and are attempting to start again, without tools, paperwork, and other necessities we often take for granted.
I believe I am currently experiencing four of the busiest weeks of my entire life. The Church members here at Forest Park are all working together to pull this relief effort off, and with your generous help we’ve been able to brighten many lives that were devastated. As of this afternoon we have helped nearly fifty families with the necessities they needed to start housekeeping in their new homes. They are financially exhausted trying to secure housing, paying the startup costs, not to mention replacing vehicles lost in the widespread flooding. In addition to these few families hundreds have come to get basic supplies they need for themselves as well as their families.

I cannot thank you enough for all your generous efforts in helping us to assist those in this time of great need. As time permits we are updating the website, http://www.forestparkchurch.org/ , to include more info on our relief efforts. Slideshows of the people we are helping as well as pictures of some of you who made the trek to LA are available as well as new links every day.

Please continue to pray for God’s work here that his name might be praised, and a great work spiritually can be done among these people as well.

The Bible For Dummies

Have you heard about what the Anglican Church is doing to the Bible?

"LONDON (AFP) - Business folk are used to reading executive summaries of important documents, and now would-be Christians are to have the same privilege, in the form of a chopped-down Bible that can be read in under two hours.

A Church of England vicar was on Wednesday unveiling his self-styled "100-Minute Bible", an ultra-condensed edition of the Christian holy book which claims to neatly summarize every teaching from the Creation to the Revelation.

The Reverend Michael Hinton was launching his work at Canterbury Cathedral in southern England, the headquarters of the Anglican Church. Publishers the 100-Minute Press say the book has been written for those who want to know more about Christianity but who do not have the time to read the original in full."

The problem with the 100-minute Bible will be the same as the problems with creeds of old. When ever anyone tries to boil down and condense God's word, they inevitably leave something important out.

When men alter the word, they will "summarize" it until it says what they want. The only way to know the will of God is to read the Bible and understand it in it's entirety. This 100-minute Bible will clearly show the prejudices of the theological beliefs of it's authors rather than be a true representation of the will of God revealed through inspired authors.

If God's will could have be boiled down to 100 minutes, God would have aready done that. Evidently every word in the Bible is important because the Bible ends by saying.....

Revelation 22:18-19 "I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book."

Taking words away from the Bible might not be a good idea in light of the above final warning from Jesus at the end of the Scriptures. Look, if you are to busy to read the Bible, you are just too busy. This is not just some other book. This is the Word of God!

If you don't make time to find out God's will and how to receive the gift of eternal life, you have a serious priority problem. Anyone looking for the "quick and easy way" to build faith and follow God will NEVER find him because he calls us to "pick up your cross daily and follow me." The cross is not quick and easy and neither is the road to spiritual growth. People who need a 100-minute Bible might want to pick up the other book they are sure to need, "A New Comers Guide to Hell."

Three Reasons To Pray For Those In The South

1 Samuel 12:23 "As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by failing to pray for you."

Genesis 18:20-33 "Then the LORD said, "The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know." The men turned away and went toward Sodom, but Abraham remained standing before the LORD. Then Abraham approached him and said: "Will you sweep away the righteous with the wicked? What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people in it? Far be it from you to do such a thing— to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?" The LORD said, "If I find fifty righteous people in the city of Sodom, I will spare the whole place for their sake." Then Abraham spoke up again: "Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, though I am nothing but dust and ashes, what if the number of the righteous is five less than fifty? Will you destroy the whole city because of five people?" "If I find forty-five there," he said, "I will not destroy it." Once again he spoke to him, "What if only forty are found there?" He said, "For the sake of forty, I will not do it." Then he said, "May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak. What if only thirty can be found there?" He answered, "I will not do it if I find thirty there." Abraham said, "Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, what if only twenty can be found there?" He said, "For the sake of twenty, I will not destroy it." Then he said, "May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if only ten can be found there?" He answered, "For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it."

Prayer Is Powerful & Effective

James 5:16-18 "...prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops."

Beauty is Fleeting

Marry a girl for her godliness not her looks because if you marry a woman with only outer beauty and not inner beauty soon you will be bound to a woman with neither.

Last week was a very productive week. Men from Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota, Indiana and West Virginia were here for most of the week and made a lot of people very happy. These men (angels)? were truly amazing. They cleaned trees from at least 15 yards and would hardly stop to eat or sleep. Some had many large trees down. Some still had big trees on roofs of houses. One of the men got our refrig/freezer back into operation and rigged up the aerator on our septic system. Also got generators going at Slidell church so there could be power and water for cleanup there. A special thanks to Kevin and his big WonderValley tree eatin tractor from the camp in Salem, In. Kevin estimates he moved enough trees to have built 24 Habitat Houses. Anybody out there want to set up a portable sawmill.

Seems such a waste of good lumber to cut up all these trees and take them to the landfill.The Crossroads Christian Church in Arlington Texas sent over two busloads of men. They worked eight hours yesterday and accomplished much. Especially notable was the mucking out of the Slidell Church building. Those men were able to remove all of the damaged sheetrock from the lower 4-6 feet of the walls. The elder/minister of the church, Bill Read, is there today putting Chlorox on the studs.

People are coming by the church to say thanks. More and more are coming by and asking "if this is the church that helps people?" The lady who first made that statement is fortunate to be alive. A tree came through her ceiling and spiked her mattress next to her while she was in bed. Finally after three weeks the tree is off her roof and out of her bedroom.

A new group of 15 men have arrived today. Another group of 30 tomorrow. I think these men are from Missouri and Ohio. I think we may also have some supplies being delivered from Tennessee. I must get down to the church and catch up on what is going on!A church in Shreveport is trying to locate and rent for us a storage pod. We can't get any locally. (Thanks Gary)

I understand someone is bringing an ice machine. Ice is available in stores but traffic is gridlocked and it could take hours to get there and back. There are many still without power and it will be helpful to have the machine set up at church for any who needs it.

Aren't there some "handy" retired men in your church who could go down and help rebuild churches and homes for a couple weeks? Let me encourage you all who have the time and skills to strongly consider going and helping with the rebuilding projects.

Don't Forget To Pray For These People

What does Proverbs have to teach us about New Orleans?

This a picture of the hundreds of buses that according to the evacuation plan were to be used to bus the those who had no transportation out of New Orleans. They Mayor never used them and they were left sitting only to be ruined by the flood.

The Bible has much to say about government and leadership.

Proverbs 29:2 "When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan."

The people of New Orleans have groaned under their leadership. What does that say?

Proverbs 28:12 "When the righteous triumph, there is great elation; but when the wicked rise to power, men go into hiding."

The difference between Mayor of NYC on 9/11 and Mayor Nagin during Katrina is stark. One inspired hope, the other hopelessness. Under one's leadership people came together, under the latter people scattered.

Proverbs 28:28 "When the wicked rise to power, people go into hiding; but when the wicked perish, the righteous thrive."

Many people who arrived to take AID to New Orleans were turned away by local government or shot at by crazed looters.

Proverbs 29:4 "By justice a king gives a country stability, but one who is greedy for bribes tears it down."

The New Orleans police force is known to be the most corrupt in a major U.S. city. The local government is totally corrupt. Compare the hundreds of NYC police and fireman who gave their lives during 9/11 to the many New Orleans Police officers who joined in the looting or abandoned their post.

Proverbs 29:8 "Mockers stir up a city, but wise men turn away anger."

Rise Up Church

The following is a letter from a preacher in Indiana.

Every church needs to adopt a city and send items down. Red cross is not there. Salvation Army is not there. Bogalusa, LA and Poplaville, MS are being kept alive by churches and donations. There are few supplies to buy if you send money. They need essentials trucked in. Red cross has done nothing. They are still "assessing the situation." Send help now. Pick a city in the affected area and send a truck. Don't wait. We started asking people Monday morning for items. By Wednesday at noon we were unloading a whole semi full of items to these people. You can do the same.

If every church adopted a town and sent items it would fix the problem. We must all help. It's not George Bushes job. It's the churches job according to God. No organization is big enough to handle it. We must all pitch in and help these people. If every church would send down 4 tons of water and food we could feed these people.

We dodged fallen trees and rolled over downed power lines to get off I59 into Bogalusa on highway 26. We rolled into town and were directed to the Wal-Mart where the National Guard were set up. Wal-Mart was guarded by soldiers with M-16s. The customer service was were I found the captain in charge. He personally guided our truck to the airport and armory where we unloaded items with prisoners from the state penitentiary out on work release. It was managed by the local fire department and the corrections officers. There was a line of cars over a mile long slowly moving through at about 10mph. they would be given water, pull forward and be given Ice, pull forward and be given toilet paper, pull forward and be given diapers and pads, pull forward and be given food and so on.

The local fire chief said that the city government was corrupt and keeping aid for themselves and thief families and that the only aid getting to people were the 10 trucks that were sent by church and private organizations or companies. There were 50,000 people being served by that relief center. We are these peoples only hope of help. Fed money is not getting to the people. Local government is unorganized and corrupt. But the church can do what the government and red cross can't.

Our 4 tons of bottled water and Gatorade were gone and distributed before we even unloaded the rest of the truck. Our youth minister Russ literally gave one man a pair of his own shoes to a man who had only wet boots that made his feet bleed. Your church needs to take up a collection, purchase items box them up and send them down in a semi trailer with some other churches. For $1000 dollars you could by 3 tons of bottled water. These people will need sustained assistance. Please don't sit back and blame the government. It is too big for any government organization to handle. If you have ever seen a tornado damage, it's just like that only for thousands of square miles. I saw whole forests blown over and dozens of trees snapped in two or torn up by roots as big as our semi tractor.

If there is any love of Christ in you, start organizing to send relief to these people. You can contact the Bogalusa fire department at 985 732 6217. Or call Poplarville who has almost nothing at 601 795 7033 and ask for Shirley. Or to find other towns who have received little or no help call Billy Wallace at 318 386 4755 or call Jason Corder at 337 581 9230. Do something. Send these people help. 12 Tons of food, water, and clothing handed out in Bogalusa, La

But better yet, get your own shipment together and take two days to deliver your gift of love in person. Allow yourself to be used by God. Share the gospel as you go. Give God the glory. Stand before God knowing you fed the hungry and clothed the naked. Show the mercy of God on these people. Don't say in a wicked heart, they deserve it. We all deserve worse. We deserve Hell! But God came to us in our sinful need and had mercy on us. How much more should we who have received mercy give mercy? How much more should the saved become saviors. If God gave you eternal life, can't you give physical sustenance to those without?

Our 12 tones of items was not nearly enough. We must all help. Now is our chance to share the love of Christ. Rise up church! In every box of food, clothing or supplies we put a Bible. We donated hundreds of Bibles with our supplies. These people need hope. They thanked and thanked us and were begging for us to send more. As I drove away, I realized I had not even made a dent in the problem. What difference did I make, I thought. And then I realized... to the woman who received some diapers and a Bible, some water and a Bible, some new underwear and a Bible, some food and a Bible, I made a big difference. I wish to God I could feed them all. I just can't. But by the power of God, I helped at least a few. If we all did we could overwhelm these people with the Love of Jesus.

Adult undergarments
Sanitary napkins
Canned food (soup and stew)
Bread
Snack foods
medical supplies
tarps
generators

and most of all daily prayers without ceasing.

We have been very busy.

People from our church have donated dozens of boxes of clothes, shoes, food, cleaning supplies, toilet paper, diapers, baby food, canned food, and the list goes on and on...

We have had help from hundreds of people in our church.

We are taking down over 3 tons of water.

Please pray for us and our safety as we deliver these items directly into the affected area. Let me encourage you to organize and do something yourself. We are going to Bogalusa, LA. We will be only the second load of water. The other load was from a church in NC. Can't your church do something too? The Red Cross is not getting it done. The Government isn't either. Get up and help!
